The alternative to Vecna Robotics is Robotics as a Service.
Vecna is a serious US competitor with a genuine RaaS model, and since 2024 their public emphasis has moved noticeably toward CaseFlow software rather than the forklift line. Where the comparison turns is reach and vehicle breadth: their published lift height is 60 inches standard, and there is no reach truck or VNA vehicle in the range.
What Vecna Robotics builds
Autonomous counterbalance forklifts, tuggers and a co-bot pallet jack, with a case-picking orchestration layer called CaseFlow on top.
Line by line, from their published specs.

Where Vecna Robotics beats us
Written in earnest. If one of these is the thing your operation turns on, Vecna Robotics may be your answer and we would rather say so now.
Published safety certification. Vecna states ANSI B56.5 and RIA 15.08 across the fleet, which is a concrete, checkable claim that not every vendor in this category makes.
Tugger capacity. Their ATG tows up to 9,920 lb, a higher published figure than anything in the VisionNav tugger line.
CaseFlow. If your bottleneck is case-picking orchestration rather than the trucks themselves, that software layer is a real product with no direct VisionNav equivalent.
US company, US support, and a well-capitalised one — over $100M raised in 2024 and a new CEO from Motional.
Where RAMS wins
Seven vehicle categories against three
VisionNav publishes counterbalance stackers, counterbalance trucks, reach trucks, slim and VNA forklifts, pallet jacks, tuggers and platform AMRs — 13 or more models. Vecna publishes a forklift, a tugger and a pallet jack. If more than one job needs automating, that difference decides whether one vendor can cover the site.
Reach and very-narrow-aisle
Vecna publishes no reach truck or VNA vehicle. VisionNav publishes four. In a racked warehouse that is not a nuance, it is whether the system can work your aisles at all.
Published navigation method
VisionNav publishes hybrid vision plus 3D laser SLAM with ±5 mm pick-and-place accuracy and sub-ten-minute mapping of a large warehouse. Vecna does not state a navigation method on their AFL specification page.
Yard and semi-outdoor work
VisionNav publishes operation on slopes under 15° and on uneven surfaces, with a lidar truck-detection system rated for weather and light variation. That is an unusual claim in this category and Vecna does not make it.
Vecna Robotics, for your vendor diligence
- Waltham, Massachusetts. Spun out of Vecna Technologies in 2018.
- Raised more than $100M in June 2024, more than doubling valuation; Karl Iagnemma, formerly CEO of Motional, appointed CEO in November 2024 alongside a further $14.5M. Aptiv partnership announced December 2025.
