NEO ASRS. Better than AutoStore.Goods-to-person, decoupled.

An each and case pick ASRS where any robot reaches any bin at any station. Higher payload, taller reach, faster stations, and no special flooring. Real installation footage: throughput that scales directly with robot count.

Three things AutoStore cannot do

“Any robot can access any bin in the system.”
“Present 2.5× the volume per bin presentation.”
“Use AI to optimize batch picking to minimize the number of bins presented.”

NEObots

Robots that own all three axes.

NEObots drive horizontally and climb vertically under their own power. No lifts, no conveyor hops. Because any bot can reach any bin at any rack location, the fleet is never blocked by the position of a single unit.

  • Independent x, y and z travel: true three-axis mobility
  • 2 m/s robot travel speed on the NEO platform
  • 40 kg (88 lb) payload, heavier goods than 30 kg cube systems
  • 4 motors (down from 7): simpler mechanics, lower maintenance

NEOgrid

Modular racking, up to 12 m system height.

The NEOgrid is a steel rack structure that fits the building you already have. No floor grinding, levelling or laser alignment. It grows module by module, so capacity scales with the business rather than a forklift-based redesign.

  • 12 m system height reclaims 60–85% of the floor space the same inventory occupies today
  • Deploys inside the existing warehouse envelope
  • No specialised flooring or laser alignment required
  • Add rack, robots and bins incrementally without downtime

NEObins

Containers mapped to the SKU.

NEObins are configurable multi-compartment totes matched to SKU size, velocity and order frequency. Double-deep storage with bottom extraction pushes density further without giving up access.

  • 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8 compartments per bin
  • 5.43 cubic feet usable capacity
  • Double-deep capable with bottom extraction
  • Compartment splits assigned per product profile by NEOiT

NEOstations

Each and case picking at 750+ picks per hour.

Operators never walk to inventory. Inventory comes to them. Ergonomic touchscreen workstations sustain high-rate pick and put, and any bot can serve any station, so a busy queue is never bottlenecked to one aisle.

  • 750+ picks per hour and 180+ bins presented per goods-to-person station
  • 700–800 pieces per person per hour (up from 70–100 manual)
  • 4–5× picker productivity; ~75% less picking manpower
  • Any-bot / any-station access removes single-aisle bottlenecks

NEOiT runs the grid. The WMS runs the business.

NEOiT is the warehouse control layer for the ASRS itself. It never replaces your WMS. Our Omni-Ware middleware maps NEOiT’s bin, station and pick state cleanly to the host WMS and ERP, so responsibilities stay clear.

NEOiT owns
Dynamic slotting by demand
Fast movers sit closer to stations and at accessible heights; slow movers push deeper and higher, rebalanced continuously.
ABC zoning in software
Zone boundaries shift inside NEOiT as demand changes. No racking redesign, no building work.
Routing & robot orchestration
NEOiT plans bot paths, bin retrieval and station assignment across the whole fleet in real time.
SKU-family clustering
Correlated and co-picked items are placed together so inter-tower travel drops automatically.
WMS / Omni-Ware owns
Order & inventory system of record
The WMS or Omni-Ware holds order lifecycle, allocation policy and enterprise inventory truth.
Upstream / downstream flow
Receiving, replenishment triggers, shipping and carrier logic live outside the grid.
Integration boundary
NEOiT exposes bin/station state and picks; Omni-Ware middleware maps that cleanly to the host WMS and ERP.

Cube systems dig for your inventory. NEO just goes and gets it.

This is the whole argument. AutoStore stacks bins in a cube and its robots work from the top, so reaching a bin underneath means lifting the ones above it out of the way first. NEO runs open aisles: any robot reaches any bin at any station, directly, on the first move.

Cube ASRS
Sequential excavation
  • Robots travel across the top of the grid
  • Bins above must be moved to reach the one below
  • Digging delays compound in hot-SKU environments
  • Congestion rises exactly when volume peaks
NEO ASRS
Direct access robotics
  • Any robot, any aisle, any bin, any station
  • Nothing is buried, so nothing has to be excavated
  • Latency stays flat as SKU velocity changes
  • Throughput scales linearly with robot count

Installed base and ecosystem maturity, with roughly 2,000 systems across 68 countries. If your SKUs are small, stable and storage density is the only metric that matters, they built the category. We will tell you that on the call.

Deploys in the building you have
No floor grinding, levelling or laser alignment. NEO fits the existing envelope and expands module by module.
Built for SKU volatility
Pharma, healthcare, 3PL and fast-moving retail change slotting constantly. Direct access absorbs that; cube geometry fights it.
Heavier goods, higher reach
40 kg per bin and 12 m of height serve tools, automotive parts, appliances and hard goods that lighter cube systems exclude.

Questions we get every week

AutoStore, Exotec and NEO, answered plainly. If a cube system is the better fit for your operation we will say so on the call.

NEO ASRS is the closest direct alternative for operations that need SKU flexibility and predictable retrieval rather than maximum storage density. The architectural difference is the whole argument: AutoStore stacks bins in a cube and works from the top, so reaching a lower bin means relocating the bins above it — AutoStore’s own FAQ puts retrieval from the sixteenth level at 3 minutes 36 seconds. NEO uses open aisles, so any robot reaches any bin at any station with no depth penalty at all. NEO also carries 40 kg per bin against the 30 kg AutoStore publishes, and goes to 12 m of height where AutoStore bins stack to 5.8 to 6 m. Where AutoStore leads: installed base, around 2,000 systems in 68 countries, and raw port throughput.

750+ picks per hour and 180+ bins presented per hour, per goods-to-person station, with 2.5 times the cubic volume per bin presentation. Falcon puts AutoStore at 500 to 600 and Exotec at 600 picks per hour per station. Because the architecture is decoupled, that rate scales linearly as you add robots rather than degrading with congestion the way grid systems do at density. In practice operators move from 70 to 100 pieces per person per hour manually to 700 to 800 with NEO — a four to five times productivity gain and up to a 75 percent reduction in the people needed on the pick.

No. NEO deploys inside your existing warehouse envelope with no floor grinding, levelling or laser alignment. That is one of the main reasons implementation runs 4 to 8 weeks against 12 to 16+ weeks for cube systems that require precise floor tolerances before the grid can be built.

40 kg, about 88 lb, per bin, against 30 kg for AutoStore and 30 to 35 kg for Exotec. That extra payload is what opens ASRS automation to tools, automotive parts, small appliances, hard goods and dense consumables that lighter cube systems have to exclude. Bins are configurable into 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8 compartments.

Up to 12 m of system height, roughly 39 ft, with about 1.5 m of clear height needed above that for the structure. AutoStore publishes a grid in which bins stack to 5.8 to 6 m, so in a tall building NEO roughly doubles the cube you get from the same floor plate. Exotec, the other climbing system, publishes up to 14 m — higher than NEO. We would rather you knew that from us than from them.

Three things, and they are real. Installed base: roughly 2,000 systems across 68 countries as of their Q2 2026 results, with a mature certified-integrator network behind them. Raw port throughput: AutoStore publishes 400 bins per hour at floor level and 500 on a mezzanine, higher than the per-station figure we quote for NEO. And storage density, which is what cube geometry is for. If your SKUs are small and stable and density in an expensive footprint is the metric that decides it, AutoStore built that category. We will tell you so on the call rather than sell you the wrong system.

Typically 4 to 8 weeks from order to running, compared with 12 to 16+ weeks for cube ASRS. The system is modular, so you add rack, robots and bins incrementally afterwards without redesigning the installation or taking the operation down.
